In a nutshell, what IS StartPad?

StartPad is an online platform where dreams are turned into reality. It helps budding entrepreneurs turn their idea into a viable business by taking them through the startup process, from discovery, research and registration through to finance, marketing and getting support.

StartPad is a central point of reference and launchpad that guides, teaches and inspires budding entrepreneurs, whilst at the same time helping them to build a solid, polished business plan that can be used to attract finance and create commercial partnerships.

Is StartPad really free?

Yes, as astonishing as that sounds. Our primary goal is to help as many people to start up their own businesses as we can. Some of the recommended services that we suggest may pay us a small commission, however we make recommendations based on the quality of the service they supply, rather than the commission we earn. Many of the third-party services do not pay us any commission, and where we do earn a commission it is never at the expense of the startup. You will never pay any more using StartPad than you would visiting them directly.

Is my information secure?

Absolutely. We ensure that all your information is password-protected. As you make your way through the StartPad process we ask you to supply information that's relevant to each task that you complete. This information is used only to build your business plan, which is a confidential document that is never shared with anyone outside StartPad. StartPad is encrypted using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to protect your data between your PC or device, and our servers.

How do I change my password?

Changing your password is a quick and easy process. To change your password, follow these steps:

  1. Log out of StartPad by clicking on 'Log Out' (top right hand side of any screen).
  2. Proceed to 'Sign In' as normal, but click on 'Reset Password'.
  3. Enter the email you use to sign into StartPad, and click 'Reset Password'.
  4. An email will be sent to you containing a unique link. Click on the link in the email.
  5. Enter your new password into the spaces provided on the page that opens.

How do I delete my account?

We would be really sad to see you leave, but you can delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at

Can I add my business to your directory?

We'd love to add your business to our directory. However, please be aware that this is at our sole discretion. Please don't be offended if we decline your request if we feel that your business is not a good fit for us.

What happens when I complete StartPad?

Well, that's up to you. Because we're adding advice, features, content and resources all the time, it's worth stopping by regularly. The more you use StartPad, the more you'll benefit, even long after you've launched. Our aim is also to create a community of entrepreneurs that share advice, help others, become inspired and keep on learning. After all, when you're running a successful business, you're in it for the long-run.

Do I need to complete every task?

As you make your way through the StartPad process, there may be tasks that aren't particularly relevant to your business. If this is the case, then just mark each irrelevant task as 'completed' anyway, as we use this to calculate (in percentages) how far through the process you are. If you're already in the process of getting ready to launch prior to joining, then just mark tasks as complete if you've already done them.

What if I don't agree with any of the advice?

We've taken considerable care to ensure that the advice we give is accurate and up-to-date. However, as with any aspect of running a business, anything can change at a moment's notice.
